Bike Hero
We set out to create a unique space for the cycling enthusiast community, where they had a dedicated forum to connect and communicate, as well as track and display their custom cycling setups.
Users could enter in their bike collection, catalog their custom loadout, and keep tabs on their ride and gear stats. The community network page would allow cyclists to come together around events, milestones, and chat about and suggest gear and enhancements to others.

The audience
Bike Hero was focused on the cycling aficionados, enthusiasts, and avid community members. The space was created to let those who live and breath bikes to track, monitor, and even flaunt their two-wheeled prized possessions. We also recognized there was a hunger for those who want to chat, comment, inform and help others in the cycling community.
The challenge
We wanted to provide the right balance of utility and usability for cyclists to engage and interact with the platform to their liking. Finding a system that would allow casual users to not feel intimidated or overwhelmed, and heavier users to feel like they aren’t too limited was an interesting task. We also aimed to create a social space that could facilitate good conversation and interaction.
The solution
We started looking at which things mattered most to cycling enthusiasts, and what levels of controls and personalization they were looking for. We designed our dashboards and component tools to feel light, approachable and easy to read. The community network was structured to promote conversation and relevant content, picking up familiar cues that users were already familiar with.
